Photos by Matt Wood…
This year the Philadelphia Flower Show was held outdoors because of concerns about large indoor groups spreading Covid. That was a good idea, except that the weather didn’t cooperate very well. It was hot and humid. The temperature was in the upper 90s and so was the humidity. Even though timed admissions were enforced, the checks at the entrance points caused long lines to back up. Also, there were long lines at the concessions and a number of people reported in their online posts that they were not pleased with the food. We didn’t go this year, so if you went and had a wonderful time, please let us know by posting comments. Even better, send us some of your photos and we will feature you in next months episode of Birds Eat Free.
Last year’s show was definitely a disappointment. It was entirely canceled because of the Covid crisis.
Which takes us back to 2019. The show was its usual wonderful extravaganza at the Convention Center. Matt Wood borrowed a camera and took the following photos. Since then, Matt has graduated from medical school, almost completed his residency in Wisconsin, gotten married, rebuilt two motorcycle engines, and bought his own camera. He’s a Nikon guy.
There isn’t a lot to say about beautiful flowers. The blooms make they own statements. We hope you enjoy these photos from 2019 and can’t wait for the 2022 show.
