Plants Eating for Free

At The Mount Cuba Center in Delaware there are some nice pitcher plants growing outside. Some are in pots on the veranda, and some are in the ground near the ponds. The plant in this category that is most well-known is the Venus Fly Trap plant. These plants attract insects to the sweet-smelling nectar at the tips of the flowers. The insects slip into the big sack below the flower tips and get caught in a sticky substance. Then the plant digests the insects and gets its meal.

Chris took the video of the wasp on the pitcher plant on her iPhone.
